Support

After the course
Support is available to help students take their next steps after most of the courses in the program. Local centers can often help with this as can members of the training team, and there are many continuing students including some who have qualified as mentors or coaches who can be available if you want to talk with someone who knows the practices of the program and uses them in their own life.

The concept of support
The idea of giving and receiving support in the More To Life Program is to help people take radical responsibility for their own lives and their own choices. This is different from a counseling relationship, or one in which we give each other advice. The purpose of giving and receiving support is to experience a mutual connection with another person who cares about your goals, and wants to support you to take your own stand on achieving them.

The practice of support
Training teams are intended as a place to practice the skills of giving and receiving support in this way. While the aim of the training team is to serve the participants of the course, support is seen as a way of strengthening each team member’s ownership of this goal. Teamwork and partnership flow from a mutual commitment to a common purpose, and when this happens it makes a team into a very strong group. Practicing giving and receiving support in this context is a skill which can be used in every area of our lives.
